History of ICCNJ

Over five decades of connecting New Jersey's international commerce community — educating, networking, and giving back.

A Legacy of International Commerce

The International Commerce Club of New Jersey has a rich history rooted in a passion for fostering international trade across the tri-state area.

The International Commerce Club of NJ had its beginning in 1972 and was formed with the intention of fostering international trade and development in the tri-state area. The founder and first president of the club, Robert Cioppa, recognized a critical need for a dedicated trade organization in New Jersey.

He met with representatives from the local Chamber of Commerce, several steamship lines, and area traffic managers and formed the club. From day one, ICCNJ served as a vital bridge between business, government, and the international shipping world.

Membership has always included representatives from steamship lines, freight forwarders, import/export companies, and other businesses involved in international commerce in the metropolitan area.
